On July 29th at 5:47 p.m., the Littleton Police Department (LPD) responded to the 7900 block of South Datura Circle West on report of a possible suicidal male in his fifties. Officers quickly responded, a male then exited the residence and approached an officer with a weapon in his hand.
An officer involved shooting (OIS) occurred and aid was rendered to the male on scene by officers prior to him being transported to a local area hospital by South Metro Fire and Rescue (SMFR). A short time later the male succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
The 18th Judicial Critical Incident Team (CIRT) will be conducting the investigation as is policy for any OIS.  This is an ongoing investigation, no additional information to be released at this time.
