This weekend, the Littleton Police Department (LPD) had the honor of partnering with the Englewood Police Department, Greenwood Village Police Department, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and mascots from across Colorado to grant a very special wish.

On Saturday, July 25, four-year-old Christian and his family were welcomed to LPD headquarters to celebrate part of his Wish Weekend. Christian has been battling cancer for quite some time and he and his family just learned his disease is formally in remission.

Christian has big aspirations of becoming a police officer when he gets older, so his family received or a tour, watched a drone presentation, and got to sit in the bearcat SWAT vehicle. He was then honorarily sworn-in during a badge-pinning ceremony. Where both he and his brother received uniforms, badges, duty belts and lots of hugs.

The weekend continued Sunday, July 26, with a big party, a procession of patrol and armored vehicles, and a talent show provided by mascots from across the state. Then in celebration of Christian being cancer free, he was presented a bell by officers from Littleton, Englewood and Greenwood Village. During the bell presentation LPD Corporal Bishard spoke about Christian’s recent battle with cancer.

“After my ten years working on the Littleton PD SWAT team, I thought I knew what a warrior was. But after spending just a short time with Christian, I learned that he is a true warrior as well. He has been fighting, and today is worth celebrating,” Bishard said.

LPD is humbled and grateful for these partnerships as well as the opportunity to be a part of Christian’s celebration.
